JM Summer Tour 2024

Jong Metropole South American vibes!

For the Summer Tour 2024, conductor Jacomo Bairos has been invited to lead the orchestra. He has previously worked with the Metropole Orchestra, leaving a big impression.

Bairos resides in Lisbon and Miami and has his own orchestra, the Nu Deco Ensemble, based in Miami. The repertoire of this ensemble aligns closely with that of the Metropole Orchestra.

The summer project of Jong Metropole will focus on the rich musical tradition of South American music. This genre, akin to jazz, boasts a rich harmonic structure. The Latin department of Codarts Rotterdam will be involved in this project, contributing its expertise in world music.

While the orchestra will take center stage, it will also be complemented by specialists in South American music. Special rhythm workshops will be organized in which the entire orchestra will participate.

The exact concert dates are yet to be confirmed, but the summer project will take place between July 31 and August 9, 2024. During this period of rehearsals, Jong Metropole musicians will receive coaching, and apart from one or two concerts during the Muziekzomer Gelderland festival, Jong Metropole will perform at various concert venues in the Netherlands!

Auditions will be held for the Jong Metropole edition 2024, including also the Autumn Tour 2024. Musicians will take part in both projects, summer and autumn. There are no separate auditions for the Autumn Tour 2024 unless unexpected vacancies arise.

Registration for the auditions is open until January 26, 2024.

The auditions will take place on February 26/27/28 and 29 2024, at the Muziekcentrum van de Omroep in Hilversum.
