Programme & planning

Jong Metropole organises two projects each year: the Summer Tour (usually in July/August) and the Autumn Tour (October/November). During these projects, Jong Metropole members get together for an intensive rehearsal period followed by a series of concerts in The Netherlands and sometimes (in case of the Summer Tour) abroad.

2026 projects

Auditions for the 2026 projects will take place from 25 to 28 March 2026. Jong Metropole's next project will be in the summer of 2026 with conductor Jacomo Bairos. The concert programme, with Brazilian and Cuban touches, will be performed during the Muziekzomer Gelderland music festival and at Young Euro Classics in Berlin, among other venues. The Autumn Tour will go across the Netherlands with legendary conductor Simon Dobson.

Project dates

Summer: 27 July - 7 August (rehearsals + 4 concerts, including Young Euro Classics in Berlin), led by Jacomo Bairos
Autumn: 23 - 29 November (rehearsals + 3 concerts in the Netherlands), led by Simon Dobson

The application term has been extended to March 8th, applications will be accepted until the maximum number of candidates for a specific instrument has been reached. You will be informed timely if your application has been accepted or not.

Wednesday 25 March (morning/afternoon): classical strings (violin/viola/cello/double bass)
Thursday 26 March (morning): Classical strings (violin/viola/cello/double bass), Classical wind instruments (flute, oboe, horn)
Thursday 26 March (afternoon): Saxophones (jazz)
Friday 27 March (morning): trumpet/(bass)trombone (jazz)
Friday 27 March (afternoon): rhythm section (guitar/keyboards)
Saturday 28 March (morning): rhythm section (drums)
Saturday 28 March (afternoon): rhythm section (bass, percussion)

The audition date for harp is not yet known.
Students that are not available on the dates listed above due to their participation in conservatoire projects will be informed about alternative audition dates.
