Winter tour 2025, the best of '70s and '80s
17 oktober 2025
After a successful anniversary tour this summer, Jong Metropole returns to stages across the Netherlands in December with The Best of the ’70s & ’80s. Under the direction of Sam Gale and featuring the soulful vocals of Lo van Gorp, the orchestra pays tribute to musical icons such as Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Bill Withers, Steely Dan and Paul Simon.
Jong Metropole guarantees fresh energy, virtuosic arrangements and an irresistible blend of nostalgia and innovation. Sixty top talents from Dutch conservatories show how jazz, pop and classical music can effortlessly come together in a contemporary sound.
10 Years of Jong Metropole – Premiere of Song for Gaia
During the anniversary concert in Tilburg on 12 December, the orchestra will premiere Song for Gaia, a new work written for Jong Metropole by Suzan Veneman, winner of the Rogier van Otterloo Award 2024.
This anniversary year also marks a special milestone: more and more alumni are finding their way into the professional music world. Several former Jong Metropole musicians have joined the Metropole Orkest in recent years — and this year, for the first time, one of them has become a full-time member.
