Programme & planning

Jong Metropole organises two projects each year: the Summer Tour (usually in July/August) and the Autumn Tour (October/November). During these projects, Jong Metropole members get together for an intensive rehearsal period followed by a series of concerts in The Netherlands and sometimes (in case of the Summer Tour) abroad.

2026 projects

Auditions for the 2026 projects will take place from 25 to 28 March 2026. Jong Metropole's next project will be in the summer of 2026 with conductor Jacomo Bairos. The concert programme, with Brazilian and Cuban touches, will be performed during the Muziekzomer Gelderland music festival and at Young Euro Classics in Berlin, among other venues. The Autumn Tour will go across the Netherlands with legendary conductor Simon Dobson and singer Jeangu Macrooy.

Project dates

Summer: 27 Jul - 7 Aug (rehearsals + 4 concerts, including YEC in Berlin), led by Jacomo Bairos
Autumn: 23 - 29 Nov (rehearsals + 3 concerts in the Netherlands), led by Simon Dobson

Extra auditions

The application term has been extended to April 20th for string players (violin/viola/cello/double bass) wanting to submit a video audition!

How to apply

If you do not have a Jong Metropole or NJO account yet, set up your personal account via the portal. If you already have an account, you can find the Jong Metropole application in your musicians’ portal. The deadline to send us your video is April 20th. A jury consisting of musicians of the Metropole Orchestra will review your video.

Video audition requirements

1. Solo piece (preferably with piano accompaniment) to be selected from the repertoire list.
Duration : 4 - 5 minutes (e.g. part of 1st movement/exposition)

2. Orchestral excerpts from the repertoire list

Violinists/violists/bass players record N.P.S. with metronome
Cellists record Shiva Mantra with metronome
Record all excerpts listed as indicated on the website

Record one continuous video (no cuts or edits)
Create a Youtube-link (hidden from everybody else), or a transfer link. After completing your application in the portal, please send the video link to musicians jongmetropole.nl
