15 May: strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass)
20 May: trumpet
trombone (bass trombone)
21 May: sax section (alto/clarinet, tenor/clarinet, baritone/bass clarinet)

All excerpts will be made available on this website to download in the coming weeks. The audition excerpts to be prepared for Jong Metropole 2019 can be found here.
At the audition, candidates will be asked to only play the orchestral excerpts (no solo piece required) which are available on the audition excerpts page. For big band players (trombone, saxophone, trumpet, rhythm section) we also require a standard / improvisation piece of your own choosing from a list provided at the same page. Candidates are obliged to bring a chord scheme for the pianist.
The key to a successful audition is thorough preparation of both the solo piece and the orchestral excerpts. Make time for your excerpts, listen to recordings of the works and/or take a look at the score. It is important that you play the excerpts accurately but also with sensitivity to the context of the whole piece, paying particular attention to accurate rhythm, tempi, dynamics and tuning.
The results of the auditions will be sent as soon as possible (within a week) after the last audition has finished.
It is not possible to obtain information about the audition results until after the final results have been sent to all applicants.
